Part six of six. We’ve reached the end of the road. Cue the Boyz II Men. I’ve saved the best for last, my fav. Below is a list of the top five movies from the past five years (in my opinion). While this is the last of the Top 5 series, be sure to check back routinely for my reviews of movies, DVD’s and maybe even some music recommendations.
__________

Oldboy. (2003) – Korea
I forget who recommended this movie to me originally, but whoever it was needs a big pat on the back, Maybe even a shove. There was a time in my life where I was seriously considering paying $280 for a version of this movie. Seriously.

_____

Pan’s Labyrinth. (2006) – Spain
Guillermo Del Toro’s masterpiece was and still is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Quote: “A long time ago, in the underground realm, where there are no lies or pain, there lived a Princess who dreamed of the human world. She dreamed of blue skies, soft breeze, and sunshine. One day, eluding her keepers, the Princess escaped. Once outside, the brightness blinded her and erased every trace of the past from her memory. She forgot who she was and where she came from. Her body suffered cold, sickness, and pain. Eventually, she died. However, her father, the King, always knew that the Princess’ soul would return, perhaps in another body, in another place, at another time. And he would wait for her, until he drew his last breath, until the world stopped turning…”
_____

Once. (2006) – Ireland
This, along with above mentioned Oldboy, is one of the movies that I recommend to everyone. I watched it originally due to the song “Falling Slowly” having caught my attention. Immediately after watching it, I watched it again, downloaded the soundtrack, and downloaded the albums by The Swell Season. Definitely add this to your Netflix queue.
Quote: “I’m telling you! You play this marvelous song for her, you get her back.” / “I don’t want her back.”
_____

A Moment To Remember. (2004) – Korea
You will cry while watching this movie. It’s guaranteed. If you feel like seeing a movie that will remind you of what true love is and the lengths men will go to for the women they love, this is it. The last person I let borrow my copy was fucked up for days.
Quote: “I love you.”
_____

Windstruck. (2004) – Korea
This is the most expensive movie I own. What sucks is that I’ve never been able to watch it on my TV due to my DVD player not being able to read the disc format. Yeah, it sucks. Anyway, Windstuck is the prequel to My Sassy Girl; which would definitely be on this list, but it came out in 2001. Do yourself a favor and pick up My Sassy Girl, then watch Windstruck.
Quote: “Let me go with my heart full of your love.”
_____
So there you have it folks. In the past six weeks I’ve given you my top five movies from Action, Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Documentary, and Foreign. I know some of you have disagreed with my choices and thats fine. You can go fuck yourself. But seriously, I hope if at the very least I’ve reminded you of movies you forgot about, or, maybe even introduced you to some movies you will be seeing soon.
